For the second year running we were delighted to be asked by our friends at SFL to be involved with the annual SAS Software Forum..
As last year, we were involved in various parts of the project for set and lighting. The set for the main conference venue reflected the industrial heritage of Telford, where the event was held. Our design utilised a dozen truss pillars, half of which were over 5m tall, each topped off with its own moving head spotlight. The truss was then beautifully lit with a stack of LED Ultrabright Pars.
In between each pillar a screen was positioned. Two were SFLs own truss screen kits in a 16:9 format, interspaced with our Pixel Mesh modules... a massive 72 units totalling nearly 30m2 of low resolution LED! Running at only 15% brightness gave just the right balance between the LED and the projection screens, showing there’s a lot more left in reserve!
Congo Blue also provided a large stage and podium for the range of presentations. The most interesting part for us was the controlled explosion of a microwave and the racing of office chairs via fire extinguisher power in true Brainiac style! How often can you say you get paid to blow things up!!
The less exciting, but still very rewarding, aspect of the job was to design and build 4 custom presentation pods using clear polycarbonate on aluminium keeklamp frames.. We were really pleased with how they came out, especially the recycled rubber tyre flooring, very eco friendly!
We also had another outing for a rotating 3D sculpture of the client's logo, which we built last year. The whole show was put together with the usual Congo Blue team spirit to support our colleagues at SFL!
