Manchester in Fashion
Urbis Centre, Manchester, October 2008
Manchester in Fashion is a cutting edge exhibition hosted annually in the Urbis Centre in the heart of Manchester, this year the emphasis was to be on the catwalk show and we were brought in to add the Congo Blue touch!
Staging a fashion catwalk show in a room full of pillars is always difficult, this was our answer!
After a few revisions, the design chosen was actually a very simple looking set, utilising a 3m wide x 14m long catwalk. The stage was constructed around the large pillars holding up the roof! We utilised the pillars to hold a pair of our 50” plasma screens and dressed them in the same floor covering as the catwalk. The set was based around a quantity of Pulsar Chroma Panels, selected to add colour and movement to a show that would primarily be seen in the daylight hours. We also added two parallel trusses of Litec QX30 to support the open White Source Four Pars and a handful of Robe Moving head spots.
It was a tight schedule with almost 40 shows in 3 days! But with a great team and each one ran smoothly!
