Classic Car Show 2008
NEC Birmingham, November 2008
Having lost the show last year to competitors, we were delighted to be called back to the NEC for Classic Car 2008.
Without going into details, some elements of the previous show we not as structurally sound as they should have been! This meant that our Prolyte Staging system was a welcome sight when it came to building a split level stage capable of supporting up to four tons of motor vehicle!
The staging was even used to make ramps for driving the cars on and off the stage, although we cheated a bit by using a forklift to place the classic Mini onto the upper level Restoration Stage - but why struggle!
The main truss grid was flown on four Venue rigging points using our Lodestar 500kg motors, whilst the upstage area was ground-supported using Astralite triangular trussing.
A live video camera, together with our radio-linked Head-Cam relayed images onto 2 x 50” plasma screens, whilst a controlled PA system of 4 CT108s and 2 Subs relayed the sound from a selection of radio mics.
The simplest of things can make a real difference and what brought this stage to life was the addition of half a dozen large printed signs, reminiscent of old-fashioned garage workshop signs... Good old Google Images!
