We were invited by Production Company RAH to come along and meet the Fashion Expo team in order to pitch for building this year's fashion show stage.

We were delighted to win the job and then went on to build one of our favourite sets this year! Within a truss box hung from the roof of the Business Design Centre, we created a large scale stage using our Pixel Mesh Screens as the backdrop, with a 3 metre wide main projection screen front and centre! The screen was powered by our 12,000 lumen projector throwing onto a custom screen/surround design and built specifically to fit in with the 'arty' nature of the set! The hanging screen had what appeared to be 'unfinished' edges, giving a stepped and blocky look to the whole set. This was mirrored underneath by a stage constructed on three levels to give a stepped look as the models came onto the upstage area.

Hidden amongst the set were some cool gadgets, two of which were specially built for this production by Congo Blue Design. A 6.1metre long conveyor belt was sprayed white and set within the catwalk, so that the models could apparently 'float' magically down the catwalk!

The second feature, was affectionately named the meat hook! A 125kg motor was fitted to a a self propelled carriage that was able to travel 12m down the centre of the catwalk. The creative director, Paul, used this to great effect by picking up specific clothes and accessories, lifting them to almost 4m in height and then propelling them down the catwalk, illuminated by a profile spot built into the moving carriage.

In addition these and a beautifully finished catwalk, the carefully chosen screen content was perfectly complemented by a whole barrage of intelligent Lighting: LED Pars; City colour floods; moving head washes; and a stack of Source Four Pars.

The whole show was operated by a team four who did a great job. With a Live VJ, DVDs, 2x Arkaos Computers, 2x CDs 2x Avolites Pearls and a pair of Motor controllers, every element was perfectly cued and the resulting show was heralded to be the best Fashion Expo to date! .
