Clotheshow Live 09

NEC Birmingham, December 2009

Back in the year 2000, Ben Teale, then a freelance production manager, was commissioned to build the live music stage for Galaxy Radio at the biggest fashion event in the UK calender - Clotheshow Live!

Now - as Congo Blue Design - Ben has just completed the 10th major build at the exhibition.  Over the decade these have sometimes included four large scale features employing over 30 crew.

Even though this year's requirements were simpler, the attention to detail was just the same with Congo Blue providing a full production package including everything to make the live feature work - set, stage and rigging; power, back stage, sound, video and lighting!

The stage is 12m wide x 5m deep with a mini catwalk thrust on the front and a huge printed set wall to the rear. A single 3 metre wide projection screen was illuminated by CBD's 12,000 lumens projector, fed by a host of inputs from Congo Blue's Portable Production Unit, including a live feed from a High Definition Canon video camera.

The stage is lit by a selection of Source Four pars and parnels, with special effects created from a dozen LED colour bricks and four Diversitronics stobes for that genuine Paparazzi flash effect!

See the pictures for images of CBD's Calam Field putting on the charm for presenter Fern Cotton at the Show, and presenter/stylist Gok Wan on our Hair & Beauty Stage.

The show closes on the 9th Dec, so if you get up to the NEC before then, check out our work!
