Royal Ascot Fashion Show 2009
Royal Ascot, June 2009
Click image to view Gallery It is that time of year again when big hats and smart morning suits adorn the Berkshire countryside. Yes it's time for Royal ascot!
This is now Congo Blue Design's third year of contribution to this event. Although the technical aspect of our involvement hasn't changed much, the look of the set is strikingly different based on a classically British scene created using visual elements including a union jack, bowler hat and a Dalmatian dog!
The set was constructed from three large stretched canvases creating a seamlessly finished backdrop. An 18 metre catwalk was crisply finished with white fascias and surface, trimmed with aluminium to complement the clean lined set.
Further visual elements were added to the set using CBD's 12,000 lumens projector. This was lined up precisely with a printed picture frame to give the illusion of a giant work of art incorporating logos and branding from designers such as Vivien Westwood, Gieves & Hawkes and Stephen Jones.
A 12 box distributed sound system incorporating multiple delays was used for audio reproduction. Clean white lighting was achieved using our stock of Source 4 pars. All crew, preproduction, and logistics were provided by the Congo Blue team.
