Moda Autumn 2009
NEC, Birmingham, August 2009
Once again Congo Blue Design were at the NEC to build the bi-annual Moda Catwalk. The design this season returned to a cleaner white look, rather than the videowall from the previous show. With a new production team on board we were given a broad brief - to build a Mayan Temple.
A tiered/pyramidic upstage area was designed with further multi-levelled stage left/right ‘wings’. A 4m roller blind was used as a simple way to reveal the upstage pyramid and 4.9 metre high set panels were used to frame it.
A 3 metre wide, 10 metre long catwalk was built, covered in white vinyl and fascia’d in clean white foamex.
Congo Blue's new Diversitronics' strobes were used for striking effects when the roller blind was used to reveal the models in pose. The pyramid was lit using Scrollers and Source 4 Pars allowing colour to be added to the upstage area.
Further colour washing was added to the catwalk using 4 Coemar Prowashes, whilst the back of the set was down-lit with numerous Ultra Bright LED Pars.
Sound reproduction came from our stock of HK CT108’s and GAE Panorama subs. As well as the fashion shows we also provided the AV kit for numerous seminars and presentations.
All crew, trucking, and pre-production was provided by the Congo Blue team. All Photos are by kind permission of Wes Oakland
