Canine Partners Fundraising Event 2010
St Mary's, Wyndham Place, London W1, November 2010
Click image to view Gallery When national charity Canine Partners decided to hold a fashion show with a difference, Congo Blue were the obvious choice for the build of the catwalk. The difference was the nature of the show's stars for an event entitled 'Dogs, Rocks and Frocks'.
In over a decade of building catwalks, Congo Blue has never done a show like this before. The catwalk (shouldn't that be 'dogwalk') itself was not that different from the norm. It was finished in white carpet, white vinyl set and black skirting with ramp entrances for wheelchair access and a 3.3m circular end. What was different was the show's unique content.
Dogs that can use cash machines, call ambulances and even get you dressed in the morning! The show was expertly crafted by Jane Galpin and Paul Swaby to show the skills of these very special assistance dogs that help people with disabilities. The event was hosted by fashion expert Caryn Franklin and included professional models including Tiffany Pisani, showing off the newest fashions supplied by Debenhams, as well as an auction that featured a dress donated by Hollywood actress Helena Bonham Carter and designerwear by Caroline Castigliano, Ben de Lisi and Royal couturier Lindka Cierach.
Congo Blue Design supported the show technically on all levels, from building the catwalk and operating the show, to lighting up the exterior of the building and even building the disabled access ramps to the venue.
The show was a triumph and a credit to Lydia from Tin Drum who pulled it all together, with a massive £100,000.00 sum raised in one night to support the Canine Partners charity!
