From Design, build and show ops
The designs for this season, were as different as they could possibly be to what had been built only 6 months before. The womenswear catwalk was just a slip of smooth black vinyl that cascaded down from a stairway on high, through a central entrance that was revealed with a 5m high retractable roller. The depth of the design was cleverly hidden from the audience by staggering set panels to create 6 unique entrance ways onto the stage, thus giving an array of creative opportunity for the choreographer, the catwalk was so close to the visitors, they could reach and feel the fabric if they tried! This gave a very intimate feel to the show and was bang on trend with the catwalks coming out of Paris and Milan…
The menswear stage also benefited from this up-close and personal feeling, whilst the back drop here was a very geometrical design, with layer upon layer of white canvases, used to create depth and structure to the show. It was all about squares, even the 6mm LED screen has an aspect ratio of 1:1 to tie in with the design, so our show designers carefully managed the content to make it look fully integrated into the lighting and Styling of the catwalk scenes.
